Fake hours of sleep with these eye makeup tricks

Pulled an all-nighter during final exams? Newborn baby decided to have a recording session at 3 A.M.? Your eyes will likely pay for your lack of sleep, so here are some eye makeup tricks to try to look more alert.

* Banish puffy eyes with an eye gel like Patricia Wexler M.D. Dermatology Fastscription Instant De-Puff Eye Gel.

* Give yourself an instant “eye-lift” by applying either a shimmery gold or silver shadow or a creme concealer 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone in your brow bone area.

* Open up the eyes by dotting a shimmery shadow 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone in the inner corners of the eyes. White eyeliner applied on the bottom waterline typically helps to make the eyes really pop but can sometimes look too stark. Try a beige one instead like MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in NC42/NW35 (for darker skin tones) or NC15/NW20 (for lighter skin tones). Don’t forget the mascara.

* Still not enough? Grab a highlighting pen like Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat and use it to touch up the area under the eyes and above the cheekbones. Blush also helps to give the skin an awakened glow as well.
