At home spa

Between the economy going bust and the holidays looming ahead, a relaxing spa day has never been so tempting. Try these at home tips to get the glow for half the price.

I've also heard of moms having "spa parties" with their daughters using things you already have at home. Great way to spend some quality time while relieving stress....she probably needs to relieve a little stress from pressure at school too!

1. Stop and smell the rose (water).
Rose water
To save some money, make your own rose-water toner, which has great astringent properties.

2. Blend up some softness.
make myself a hydrating facial mask by blending a little cold cream, yogurt, honey, aloe vera gel and avocado.

3. Heat things up.

Before jumping into the shower, stash your daily body lotion on top of a radiator or heating vent so it’s warmed up when you rub it on.

4.Scrub.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup raw oatmeal
  • 1 cup olive oil
You probably have these ingredients in your kitchen cabinet right now. Go get em' and get smooth soft skin.

5.
Take a freshly cut lemon and rub gently on rough elbows and knees. The acid in the lemon will soften rough spots on skin and also lighten any dark areas

6. Do it in the dark. (No, not that)

Start—or end—the day in a wonderful, slow, quiet, calming, flickering way with a candlelit shower or bath. Make sure the bathroom is dark (close the curtains, if you have them) and light a sweet-smelling candle

7. Good ole' cucumber
Cucumbers are the most wonderful and natural eye pads you can find for yourself. The puffiness and the tiredness in your eyes may just leave you, if you do this in a relaxed fashion. These natural eye pads do wonders after a long days work.

What are some of your at home spa substitutes? Do share!
